"Believe it or not, you're not alone. It has been estimated that about 2,160 different people put their cell phone through the wash in a single day." How good to know I am 1 of 2,160. But tips from the Internet and tips from Carole, who I remember being able to save her phone from a similar disaster, did not help me. My phone appears to be dead.

Luckily I wasn't the only one to leave care aside. While Mike was giving my cell phone a rubbing alcohol bath, a little bit got on the kitchen table and dissolved the finish in a couple spots. Whoops!

I put mine in a ziploc baggie and took it on a small raft on the provo river a few years back. For some reason only the baggie got filled with water. We took the battery out and let it drain as well as shook the water out. It took 24 hours but it worked. I think the older ones were more durable. Someone I know (who shall remain nameless) dropped their in the toilet - do you really want that one back?
