Pictures for Grandma

This is Michael in his new-to-him suit jacket. Excuse the brown shoes, he insisted on changing out of his church shoes as soon as church was over, and yet insists on wearing the church tie to bed. And yes, he does practice faces in the mirror.

30 days left? I wish there were a money-back-guarantee

Project: Princess Room

We finished up Phase I of Adelyn's room. We are lacking curtains, a lamp, and the IKEA hanging thing. (maybe a canopy, but I'm afraid the kids will rip it down). But the walls are painted, furniture moved and pillows sewed.
Step 1: Being in the state I am in, I knew I couldn't move down furniture, or rearrange it until I liked it, so Adelyn and I measured her room and cut furniture out (inch for inch) and practiced moving it around on paper. This was our favorite arrangement. Mike moved the bed and my brothers moved down the other furniture. Thanks guys!Step 2: I got the pillows sewed. This would normally be something I would put off for a very long time, but there's not many other projects on my to-do list that require as little physical agility. I wanted the covers to be removable for future flu episodes so I did one with a button closure, one with velcro, and one with a zipper. I like the zipper one the best. Don't ask me why I did them all different, I'm still figuring out why Mike doesn't match his socks.A somewhat finished project. I just can't get over how much I love chair rail. And for the couple weeks that she has been sleeping downstairs, the comeback monsters haven't scared her yet!

Valentine's Day Recap

Pretty much you have to assume all posts are going to be about pregnancy or food for the next few weeks. For example, we made these easy and delicious "Molten Chocolate Surprise" desserts (recipe on the sidebar) as a special Valentine's day treat to go with our fondue dinner. We thought it would be fun for the kids, they never appreciate our ideas like they should :)

We are on doctor-ordered "chill-out" mode so I just sat yesterday making Valentine's with the kids. I think we spent 3 hours at the table, and neither of them muttered once. I am coming to realize how far their attention will span when I am just sitting and spending time with them.

We had a bonus ultrasound this week where it was estimated the baby is already 6 pounds. We hope it was a gross overestimation since we still have 6 weeks to go. They say the baby is comparable in size to a crenshaw melon... a couple weeks ago they compared the baby to a jicama as if I can really relate (?) babycenter.com is obviously put together by a bunch of pregnant women who can only think about food... the nerve!

Always baby stuff around here

We had a fun weekend down in the sunny, southern part of the state. We were there for my sister's baby shower. She is due in just four weeks. We are so excited for her! I wanted to make a fun cake, because I like to make fun cakes, and decided to try fondant because I like the look. But fondant is gross stuff! Unless... you make it yourself out of pure sugar, which I did. One big bag of marshmallows and 2 pounds of powdered sugar. Mmmm! I have put the recipe for MM Fondant on my sidebar because it was fun, and I believe it was foolproof (if I got it right on the first try). I like to call it Mmmmmm! Fondant. Adelyn loved using the cookie/fondant cutters after I was done with the leftover, and Michael loved the leftover frosting to spread over his grahams. (Yes, that's probably all they really had for lunch that day, and the only reason they weren't in there pajamas all day was because Mike got them dressed before he left).
