Plentiful, Fiberful Fruit

Apparently, blackberries looked a bit like corn on the cob to Joey, because he pulled these cob holders out of the drawer.
Fruits are back in season at our house.  The kids love to help pick them fresh off the vine, and they get better and better each time about finding the really ripe ones.  We have a couple raspberry bushes, and one blackberry bush that are super-yielding this year.  So yummy!

To school for a FULL DAY!

Adelyn's favorite part about going to school full-day is that she gets 3 recesses!  She's so excited about it.  Other favorite activities are going to the school library and homework.

My favorite part about her going back to school, is that every day she says, "today was even better than yesterday!"  She has been great about getting up early (so says Mike, the one who gets her up) and getting ready quickly.

She's growing up!

Wrong place at just the right time

First this...
Then this...
And finally this... poor little guy.

Marathon first... half marathon's second

Probably because marathon's are crazy, and half marathon's are only half crazy... we all live and learn.

Mike attended the inaugural "Outlaw Run" in Beaver, UT.  He said it was a beautiful course,  He did great; he finished under his goal time and doesn't have too much wear and tear to show for it.  He walks better than he did after a downhill 10k anyway.
Looking excellent after running 13 miles.  .1 miles to go!
He crossed the finish line, only to turn around and find his beautiful family.
Mike posing for a picture with the other Top 3 placers in each category.  On his right, his running buddy.  On his left, our brother, the true long-distance runner.

13 weeks

Mike brought the kids to the doctor to hear the baby's heartbeat.  When we were talking about it later, I realized the kids have never heard any heartbeat before.  They have no idea what their own heartbeat sounds like, so I had them try and decribe what they thought the baby heartbeat sounded like.  Michael said it sounded like a train and added, "I even thought I heard a little, CHOO CHOO!"

Cowgirls and Cowboys

Howdy!  Here's just a few things we've been doing out on the range.
On the 24th of July we started the morning at the family rodeo.
All the kids did stick races, and Adelyn chased a couple chickens and a lamb.  We had Adelyn signed up for Muttin' Bustin' but the bigger sheep were too wild, so it was called off.  I think she would have done it this year, but watching the older kids on the wild sheep must have been a little scary.
Later in the day Mike took us and my brothers shooting.  Here is Sharp Shooter himself on the range.
And the Sharpest Shooter: winner of the day.  I'm going to go with beginner's luck on this one.  I've never really shot a .22 until that day.

Joey didn't do any shooting, but enjoyed the activities.  He's setting his sites for a couple years when he's old enough to shoot the BB gun.
These kids were "old enough" and did awesome.  They both shot the BB gun by themselves, and got help with the .22.
Our last event of the day was a combined church/city activity with a yummy dinner.  This is "Sloppy Joe."
I guess that's all folks.  Ya'll come back now!
