Tag

We've been tagged! This may or may not be my first post ever without pictures.

Here's how it goes... Each player starts with seven random facts about their self. People who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their own seven things and then the rules. You need to choose seven people to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment that they have been tagged and to read your blog!

Seven random facts about Alissa

1. Once I have decided I am tired, I don't like lights AT ALL. Mike gets a little discouraged trying to goop up his toothbrush without any light. I am a pro, however, at being "blind" and do quite well without the lights. If he turns on the lights, it really throws off my groove.

2. I have a written cleaning list for weekly chores. I enjoy crossing items off once they're done. I honestly think I would forget to change the sheets if it weren't on my list. Two things you will never find on my chore list: dusting and ironing. I don't do either, unless it's an exremely apparent need.

3. For over 6 months I have not eaten any obvious forms of sugar (i.e. brownies, cake, cookies, mini cadbury eggs) except on my "sugar days" which come 15 times this year. Things I miss most include Rice Krispy treats, warm gooey brownies, cold cereal and fruit snacks with the kids. Imagine eating shredded wheat without the frosting... I am not doing this again next year. However, I weigh less now than I did my senior year of high school.

4.I failed drivers ed the first time I took the driving test. I was still half blind from Kerataconus, a degenerative eye disease, which is why I have had two corneal transplants.

5.I am once again, almost as blind as I was when I failed drivers ed, except this time they said there is nothing they can really do for me until I'm done having kids. My hormones make my eyes change quite drastically.

6.I took one semester of independent study, and one semester of on-line courses when finishing up my college degree. Although I had hoped to graduate as a cougar alumni, I wear the name of... roadrunner. I still find that part of it all a little embarrasing.

7. I only like plain popcorn. Mike has to give me my own seperate bowl of air-popped (
not microwave) popcorn before he salts and butters up the rest of the batch. I like popcorn a lot. I like caramel popcorn better... but remember the no sugar thing.

And after thinking it over... rather than tag 7 people, I am going to come up with 7 things about Mike... if you want to be tagged, let me know and I will tag you, but I recently asked everybody to help me out with a quilting chain letter, and I just don't want to ask too much of anyone: :)

Seven random things about Mike by Alissa

1. Mike has a pin phobia. He doesn't like to see my pull out my sewing because it means there is a remote chance (or huge possibility when the kids are involved) that there will be pins on the floor. Because of such, he is a magnet for stepping on pins. In our married life he has stepped on over four (including one safety pins which he doesn't think are safe). I don't think I've ever stepped on one in my life.

2. Compared to his height, Mike's arm span is a little longer. I think it means he gives great hugs and can reach high things really, really well.

3. Mike is also going without sugar this year... the craziest part about that, is that he's done it before two other times since we've been married. Once for a year, and once for 3 or 4 months and this time for a year again. After one sugar day he decided he was allergic to sugar, which the doctor pretty much verified for us.

4. Mike is practically half fish. He can swim across the Parowan City Pool there and back (about 50 yards) without coming up for air.

5. Mike doesn't like wet socks or crumbs on his feet. Our floor, mostly because of the kids, is usually wet or crumbly. Mike is very good at helping sweep the floors. He also won't wear socks outside and doesn't like to be barefoot.

6. Mike likes liquidy bananas. His favorite juice is Pine-orange-banana by Dole and his favorite non-sugar shake is homemade banana milk with peanut butter, honey (which is legal), flaxseed and oatbran.

7. Mike drinks more water than a camel. When we are running, he can gain up to 10 pounds in one day, just in water weight. He drinks WAY more than the average Joe on any given day.

Everyone's a Winner!

Yesterday was our second 5K of the season. We each received a bag of "goodies" with the usual... T-shirt, sponsor pens/pencils/clips. The best part, was that the goody bag also included tiny marble-like animals (from Mexico) and dreamcatchers (from China). I got a donkey, Mike got a horse, and our neigbor who ran with us got a goose. What fun!I have to report, our times did not improve this race. Mike has an excuse because this time he pushed the stroller. I have no real excuse, but in my defense, we ran straight up a mountain, and straight back down (two extremes which I have never taken a liking to). Alissa- 24:53 and 2nd in age category (there's always going to be that one girl that can beat me, isn't there?) Mike- 25:54 and second in stroller category. My brothers ran too. It was cool that our bib numbers also indicate the order in which we all finished!
Look at how happy I am to see the finish line! I'm thinking of reserving the license plate LV2BDUN in contrast to the one we see around town that says LUV2RUN.Adelyn was so happy to be part of the race. When it was all said and done, she says her dad is as fast as Lightning McQueen.

The Beast in the Backyard

I know he's probably not even half grown yet, but this athletic pooch is big. We like to watch him when he's on full throttle because he does crazy stunts in the backyard (those are also the times we don't send the kids out, because he'll run them over). Other than jumping up on the kids, licking their faces off, tearing apart anything in sight, digging in the manure we just spread, not listening to anything we say and barking all night long... I am enjoying the pup. I will speak only for myself :)
Adelyn training Skippy to jump over a stick. He can jump really high.

Pretzels for Preschool

Not really preschool, but we were practicing letters with homemade pretzels and it was really fun. That's why we included the delicious recipe in our favorite recipes section. I made the M for Michael and Adelyn made her own A.

An unnecessary update

We are happy to have seen everyone so recently... no need for a blog when you can see us for yourselves :)
We enjoyed our time in Phoenix. Here is Mike, he always leaves a mark-Adelyn learned that citrus comes from trees and loved bringing them in to feast upon. We have had some of the sweetest oranges in our lives this past week from the lot we brought home.
And MD C's reminded me that we never posted pictures of the doghouse, and we did say we would. Here is thedoghouse (hidden under the deck, sneaky Mike thought of that)-
