Happy Thanksgiving!

Although we almost missed our train, we enjoyed the Phoenix sunset at McCormick Ranch and got to play at the park until well after dark. We had beautiful weather the whole trip and the kids did great on the drives back and forth. We enjoyed time with so much family. I particularly enjoy comparing pregnant bellies because I am so proud of my own. I am excited to be at the front of the baby wave this time. Adelyn always talks about cousins, so it is fun when we get to spend time with everybody. Although we see them less, Adelyn thinks cousins are better than just friends.

The Little People E.R.

Our Thanksgiving weekend included our first-ever trip to the Emergency Room for one of our kids. Michael trapped his finger in a folding chair and collapsed on it. They stitched the top back on in an attempt to save it with a halo of about 10 stitches. They said his fingernail and finger will likely look normal in a matter of months... here's hoping! Other than the amount of time we waited and waited (5 hours total), we were very pleased with the little people hospital we encountered in Phoenix.

Some stories of our lives

Tonight we went to the high school musical, "Grease," here in town. I like to go to these things anyway, but it was especially intriguing because I played, "Sandy" back in November of 1999. They did a great job (probably even better than me). I purposely left my cell phone so it didn't go off, but halfway through the performance I heard a cell phone beep: Michael had brought his. He smiled and pulled it out of his pocket to show me.
We saved a piano last week as it was a likely junkyard candidate. It sounds HORRIBLE but we're hoping the tuner can fix that for a few dollars or more. We have to let it sit in our house to acclimatize itself for about a month before he can come and see whether its fixable or not.
I was running Michael a bath after his haircut when I looked down and saw Adelyn with the scissors. I ran down and grabbed them from her in the nick of time, or so I thought. She'd already taken off several inches and was going for the second chunk when I caught her. Short hair suits her very well though, we should have done it long ago, mornings go way better for both of us! For anybody who might understand, she asked if we could read Junie B. Jones that night... maybe we're throwing those books away.

Welcoming...

We are pleased to announce that we are 99.99% sure we are welcoming another baby BOY into our home in the next 20 weeks (or so). We had a great ultrasound watching our little man moving around for about 40 minutes. The tech was great to let us watch the baby. He acted like he thought it was as fun as us to watch the baby open and shut his mouth. We had a couple great games of peek-a-boo; once when his foot shot out from behind the placenta, and another when the tech decided to send us home with a picture of his face and all we could get was his hands covering his face. We came home with zero good ultrasound pictures to share because of such misbehavior. What a character!

A Little Sunday Music Entertainment

Blog crazy... twice in one day.

Adelyn- sings just like she was an instruction manual for teaching nursery children the proper way to sing "Do as I'm Doing."

Michael- his mad dash to get to the good part of the song... forget the rest.

My Tagged Tale

I've been tagged. I think we should always get to tell one good story about the person who tagged us, only because I keep thinking of Julie's Big Bertha face being thrown against the wall, now rotting is some secret dark corner of BYU's campus. Anyway, that's all I want to say :)

Six habits or facts about Alissa:
#1: fact, I have the cutest kids and family ever.
#2: habit, I like to stay in pajamas all day (right now it's especially tempting because I don't own clothes that fit me except for jammies). But I can't continue because now Adelyn doesn't like to get dressed in the mornings and it drives me crazy.
#3: fact, to make up for moving from a larger metropolitan area to a rural town, I spend too much time as on on-line shopper.
#4: fact, I haven't learned anything from my Year Against Sugar. I'm going to eat just as much sugar as I did the year before because I never had to moderate, only abstain. I'm too good at strict observance of laws. I need a new idea for next year to teach moderation.
#5: habit, I lock the doors without thinking. Sometimes Mike gets locked out of the house when he leaves for work and has to run all away around the house to come in and go to the bathroom since he can't use keys for the sliding door. I know it's not funny, but it's a little funny when I think about it.
#6: fact, I just made the best bagels ever yesterday... twice. It seems like my 50th attempt, but I've got the recipe and rhythm to make it happen again and again. I'm pretty happy about that.

And I'm not going to tag 6 people, only because they would all have really good stories about me being a goofball.

Finally a Winner!

Although we didn't win any contests for costumes this year (even though they sure dress up cute), Adelyn (the fairy princess) won a Halloween coloring contest at the local Wells Fargo. At first I assumed that they were giving winner prizes to all the entrants because Adelyn's picture was a little eclectic. But low and behold, eclectic is considered creative, thereby winning her "MOST creative." She won a door hanger basketball game that she'll be able to play with in about 3 years.Little does Wells Fargo know, we don't even bank with them :) We just make payments for Mike's clients.

Pumpkin Gut Therapy

Sorry about the sideways video... I don't know how to rotate it.
After the way he acted when we picked pumpkins, I shouldn't have been surprised that Michael didn't want to help clean the pumpkin out. Adelyn and Mike helped him overcome his fear by flinging pumpkin guts all over him. If Mike would make cool sounds while flinging guts, Michael would smile. If he just fling without sound, Michael would still be a little upset about the goop. I'd like to add as the mom that Mike cleaned up his whole mess and bathed the kids afterword.
