Father's Day Mayhem

Last Saturday, I geared the two older kids up to have a crafty time while the younger kids were sleeping. We pulled out some spray paint, and other materials and I left Michael And Adelyn to read some books while I put Joey and his cousins down for a nap. Seeing as how they usually like to take crafts into their own hands, I shouldn't have been surprised that they went right to work as soon as I left the room. They spray painted these beauties all by themselves... in the kitchen!
Mike got home and assumed I had supervised the spraying and it stunk because we brought them in too early. He left the doors open to air the house out and took the kids for a walk.

They were lucky they were with Dad when I realized what they'd done! My kitchen counter was golden! By the time they got home, my reaction was calm and cool. We talked about how they had done something wrong, and luckily, Mike got the gold spray paint all cleaned off.

If nothing else, they love their Daddy, and were SO excited to make and gift something special! Happy Father's Day Mike!

It's a wrap!

After over 5 years, my food wrap from Costco is gone. We moved this wrap from Colorado. Crazy to think!

Waterfalls- Take Two!

Just up the canyon is a place I've visited since I was in Kindergarten. Hidden Haven. It really is a great little hiking area with a couple little waterfalls. We enjoyed our time there today. And once again, the Adventure Hats took their places on top of our heads.

We took a little break half-way up. Joey rehydrates. He looks like a little hiker, but don't let him fool you, he got carried most of the time.Michael nearly gasped when he saw some big leaves. I love how they are so intrigued by the miracles in nature. Here is the first little waterfall. Joey didn't mind getting completely soaked. He would have walked through the middle of the stream the whole time if I would have let him. Adelyn loved our hike today. She is hot and cold with the whole "adventure" thing. Today she was hot, and really, really enjoyed the hike. Hot enough that she decided to take a shower in the falls! And here is Michael, fending off the Natives at the second waterfall. (Actually a really great group of friends went hiking with us today. All the older kids are SO helpful with my little kids)
We loved our trip. Thank you to my friends for getting us out of the house!

Put on your Adventure Hat kids!

This summer I decided to get "Adventure Hats" for the kids. I figure maybe they'll actually wear them if they have an awesome name, and if they're always associated with something outdoor/adventure-ish. The first time I recall taking them out was at Panguitch Lake. I decided to give Mike some "real" fishing time (no kids) and took the kids geocaching for a spell. It was a good idea of mine, because he actually caught a pretty decent fish while we were gone.

Whoa! There's a waterfall at Panguitch Lake, I never knew. I love geocaching! Then it was the kids turn for some fishing! It was pretty windy, so I set up a mini tent for shelter and the kids and I watched their poles from there. We didn't catch any fish, unless you consider a 40 pounder by the name of Adelyn a fish. She got hooked, and in trying to pull it out, got the barb caught very deep. Mike pushed the hook the rest of the way through to her skin and cut the barb off so it would come out cleanly. Adelyn was VERY brave, and I was very faint. As scary as it was for all of us to see the hook so completely stuck in her skin, it ended up being something I look back on with fondness because of all the things I learned about Adelyn that day. She is my amazing girl!

Joey- he's sometimes tired.

Everybody has to take at least one picture of their kiddio who has collapsed of exhaustion in the middle of a meal... And at least one video of the same.

Bonus points if you can tell what game Mike is playing in the background.

A Season for T-ball

For a month, Adelyn and Michael played some T-ball together. They were excited to get their uniforms.
They were officially the M&D Frogs.

At first they didn't quite know what to do...

But by the end, they were full of skills.

Mike got to be assistant coach most games, and head coach for the last one. My job was to get the kids who were batting next off the dugout fence and ready with a helmet.

Joey, he is a T-ball FAN! He would have been ready to play this year, but let's face it, we had already snuck Michael into the league (he was a few months shy of the official age).

Little Miss Graduate

"Start spreading the news, she's leaving today! She wants to be a part of it- 1st grade, 1st grade!"

Kindergarten graduation was just up Adelyn's alley. She loves to sing, dance, recite things both funny and cute, and be the star of the show. Graduation was obviously adorable, since even getting there 15 minutes early doesn't get a seat even close enough to see your kid unless you have some ultra-zoom video camera. I ended up pretending I had a rambunctious 2-year-old boy who needed to run around in the hall, while I watched the show from the side door. Michael matter-of-factly said, "I can't see Adelyn I'm going to sit on the front row." He walked in front of everyone, sat on the floor in front of all the chairs and watched the hour-long-show without blinking an eye.

Here is Adelyn on her last day of school. We love her! Happy graduation Adelyn!

Adelyn's First Day of School, oh how she's grown!

My Punishment

I had to ask for forgiveness today from Michael for getting frustrated with him. He quickly forgave me and when I asked him if there was anything I could do for him. He immeidately said,

"Will you please clean the toilet?"

Bummer. I gave him that chore on purpose, it is not my favorite.
