I think it's about time... she said.

On our way home from an action-packed trip to Phoenix, we stopped in Flagstaff for some big city errands and a gas/bathroom break at the Target.  Adelyn walked by the jewelry counter and mentioned to Mike, "I think it's about time I got my ears pierced."  Mike has talked to Adelyn in the past about getting it done, but she's been pretty scared.

Well, let me introduce you to Adelyn the Brave!  Just a few weeks ago she jumped off the diving board for the first "real" time (meaning nobody shoved her off, which has happened a few times in the past).  Remember this Adelyn?

Not anymore!  She jumps off like a pro!

And of course, when she said she wanted to get her ears pierced, Mike made sure she was serious and then committed her to really getting it done, especially if we were going to drive all the way to the mall.  We parked right next to the Claire's at the mall.  Adelyn picked out some earrings (her birthstone, a crystal garnet), and she got her ears pierced.  Video here.

But it gets even braver.  I took a billion looks at the piercings while Mike was paying, and I just wasn't comfortable with where one of the earrings sat.  It was too high.  It just didn't look right.  But, I had no idea how easy or hard a fix it was.  We talked with a couple employee's at Claire's, and they offered to re-pierce one of her ears.  Adelyn was NOT happy, but eventually, after she talked herself down, she got the first earring pulled out, cleaned up, and re-pierced.
The ear where Adelyn got a "double" piercing!
Thank you Adelyn!  I know it was really, really hard for someone who had already been so brave!  I'm so happy we got it worked out right!  In the end, she said it was all worth it!  She loves pulling her hair back so she can see her new bling!

I don't think I could have been that brave- I would have probably picked to have one ear showing and hair covering the one that was too high!!!
