I am amazed at how fast our kids evolved from being: 1 girl, 2 boys, and 2 babies to 1 girl and FOUR boys. If there is one "boy" noise I will never get used to, it is basketballs bouncing around any hard surface of the house. But, there are a few boy things I think I am learning to appreciate.
One day, I "pinned" a fun idea for me and the kids. We were going to make a snow sculpture for the birds, it was going to look just like a cute bird bath.

I got the twins dressed for the cold weather, while Joey moped on the couch, not wanting to go outside. The little boys and I went outside to start snow sculpting. Neither Braden or Nelson had any interest in what I was doing. Somehow, the insides of me got all sad. Adelyn loves doing crafts and projects with me, and because I love to do those things so much, I suddenly felt like my life was going to be completely void without another girl and I felt a little alone.
Then something caught me attention. It was a green truck that had been left out the last time the kids were outside. Alongside it was a couple other construction-type boy things. My bird bath started to evolve and soon I was able to drive the green truck on my new mountainous road snow sculpture. Suddenly, Joey, who had been watching from the window, appeared as my first mate.

He carved out more road, and wondered if we could build a tunnel for the bigger truck. We brainstormed and built a tunnel with a broom stick.

The little boys came over with great interest and played for a long, long time- until their hands were red with cold (they had pulled their gloves off .2 seconds after we got outside). We had filled up the top of the road with birdseed, which the little boys decided to sprinkle all over the structure. Then they ate some snow, then ate some bird seed (which is in the "boy stuff I probably won't get used to" category).

It could be a boy thing, it could just be a Braden thing, (Nelson looks grossed out).

And guess what? The birds didn't care how pretty it was, or how much it resembled a bird bath. They just cared that there was bird seed. And it was a fun time for all, and I got to do my craft, and they got to do their boy thing. And I'm not feeling a pinch of void; just completely filled up with how much I love my family.
