It's really hard to believe we have an eight-year-old on our hands. She is an amazing girl! She is just the right touch for our family of so many boys. She has a great knack for legos and building and for design. She picks out cute outfits, and bakes up a storm, all on her own. She also is great with the babies, and occasionally changes diapers without being asked. Some days she wants to be a teacher when she grows up. She practices teaching with the boys, and taught Michael to read before Kindergarten. She has an incredible imagination and is usually a sorceress at recess, who defeats all evil. She is excited to get baptized and has an incredible grasp on the stories from the Book of Mormon. I love this girl.

The butterfly model she put together in less than 30 minutes.
She is also excellent at Math, probably because Mike is such a great teacher and works hard with her. She loves to be pushed and really gets excited when he starts drilling her with math-type questions. She loves to be timed on math facts too. I've heard that the math side of the brain, also produces excellent origami. If it doesn't, it does her. Adelyn is a precise and intuitive origami folder. I cannot replicate what she does. I love to see the little masterpieces she's made, and encouraged her to start an origami museum in her room, which you can see if you are ever in the area.
Here she is, teaching once again. They all learned how to make their own cup. The boys were so proud that their little paper cups actually held water.
Here she is, being attacked by an origami creation, and surrounded by some of the things she made one night, including that cute little piano.
We're lucky to have her in our home! |
