Efficiency- Two Lake Trips in One Fun-filled post
In the beginning of July, we made a day trip to Quail Creek and re-introduced the kids to the joys of boating. Adelyn loves the water, the sand, and the sun, but prefers to be a bystander when it comes to the boating portion.
Mike and I, as unpracticed as we were, didn't need too much help getting out of the water this season. In fact, on this trip, I think we were 100%.
Can you tell what Michael learned this season? Michael learned that a thumb down means SLOW DOWN! He didn't love the tube here at Quail, but I thought maybe he'd love it at Lake Powell. I talked him into going with me later that month, and we drowned the tube. He didn't love being in deep water. He instantly had concerns of sharks and piranha. Most kids fight the life jacket, but not Michael. He loves his life jacket.
My brothers were taking pictures of each other's awesome jumps for a highlight video, but I think I will only get included in their "wipeout" video. Mike did take a picture of me, nearly out of the water, and I was pleased.

We got to spend a couple wonderful days at Lake Powell. The weather wasn't always perfect for boating: it got quite windy each afternoon, but the kids thought it was the best ever! It meant plenty of time to enjoy the sandy beaches and shallow water. Adelyn loved digging in the sand, and usually not for any particular reason, sometimes just to dig.
Michael enjoyed "kneeboarding" in the shallow water, I guess less chance of sharks.
Joey took a turn at kneeboarding, and had the time of his life. Really. He loved being in the water, but is a life jacket fighter. I don't blame him, since every time he got too deep, it buoyed him up and sent him straight to his back, fighting the sun.
Mike and Seth came up with the crazy idea of swimming across the lake from our beach. I was less than excited about seeing them complete their goal, considering they would be crossing a channel where boats are always coming and going. My super nice brother offered to drive alongside them on a jet ski with extra life jackets, and my dad ended up going by them in the boat (I'm sure, mostly for my sake). By the time they got to the end, we couldn't see them at all, and if it weren't for a 10X zoom on my camera, we never would have documented the finish. They swam a really long way in 25 minutes. I was impressed by the end.
