Swim Lessons

Adelyn just passed her Level I swim class, regardless of the fact that she wouldn't jump off the diving board. She was TERRIFIED! I thought it might help if I could spend a couple hours with her in the pool. So, I dropped sleeping Joey off at Mike's work, squeezed into my swimsuit, and put lifejackets on both kids. After about an hour, Michael was jumping off the diving board continually. He was the most popular kid at the pool. Pretty soon the 10-year-olds were chanting "Michael! Michael!" and he'd jump off like a rock star. I don't think it helped Adelyn's fear any... maybe I'll take her by herself next time.

While this is not always the case it seems to illustrate differences often seen between boys and girls - boys seem to have no fear. Aaron (my oldest) would climb on the fridge at 18mo. It was me who feared!
