The Little People E.R.

Our Thanksgiving weekend included our first-ever trip to the Emergency Room for one of our kids. Michael trapped his finger in a folding chair and collapsed on it. They stitched the top back on in an attempt to save it with a halo of about 10 stitches. They said his fingernail and finger will likely look normal in a matter of months... here's hoping! Other than the amount of time we waited and waited (5 hours total), we were very pleased with the little people hospital we encountered in Phoenix.

Oh my goodness. I have such a fear of ending up in the ER and since I'm raising a boy I know it's inevitable! Did you have to wait 5 hours before they even saw you? Was his finger hanging by a thread that whole time? Did you almost faint? What did you do with Adelyn during that time? Phew.

Thanks heids for suggesting that I might have fainted. I liked watching them stitch him up because I knew there was no pain. It's when I know he is feeling pain that I felt VERY faint. I did not attend the X-ray or shots, so I'm glad Mike was there to be with him then. The whole process was 5 hours from start to finish. I'm glad we didn't have to wait 5 hours just to see a doctor, as his finger was certainly hanging on by a 1 cm thread.

But good news, the most recent doctor appointment says all is well: no infection and he'll keep his fingertip. That's a big relief.

May you never have to rush to the E.R. (not just because it's gross, but because it's expensive too!)

Sorry he (and you) had to go through that! Ugh. Reminds me of when Rory grabbed my curling iron. Luckily, they wont remember the pain (only we adults will have the emotional scars). =) Glad that the hospital was cute at least.
