Bargain Shopper

I was explaining to my neighbor today about this awesome deal, and he knew that I was the ultimate bargainer.  He also said something like, "that's extreme."  But I'm figuring, if it's that good of a deal, you'll want to know about it, right?

So, for the last several years, Mike begs me to get my ears pierced.  It's a good thing we don't live near a "Claire's" or even a mall for that matter, because every time we walk by, he begs and bargains, and I always say, "why???" and eventually, "no way!"

We recently took a trip up to SLC, where we passed by another Claire's.  The begging begins and I surrender.  "Ya, maybe if you give me a budget of $$$largeamountofmoney$$$ for some new couches."  And he said, "deal!" and I said, "wait, I want more!" and he offered to give up sugar for a year, and I said, "deal!" again.

So that's the deal.  I get my ears pierced, and he dedicates a large amount of money for me to splurge, and a large amount of commitment to not eat any sugar.

I got my ears pierced sometime in the next 20 minutes, after rearranging a pair of magnetic earrings all over my ears, and moving the official blue dot a time or two.

So as soon as we got home, I got busy looking for my new couches.  There is an extreme difference in price between fake leather, and real leather couches, and we decided that we would probably be best to get some "practice" leather couches, especially with such young ones still hanging out on them, (hanging is a literal translation, and the very first day they smeared diaper rash cream all over them).  I found a nice set, and came in WAY under budget, so I bought a rug and fabric for throw pillows too.

And I was still way under budget, so I bought a scooter too!
And it is so pretty!  It's a Honda Metropolitan 2007 with over 5000 miles on it.  I currently have my motorcycle learners permit (after only failing the written test once), and go in to take my skills test on Wednesday.  I'm a little nervous, because Mike says it's so easy... but he said the written test was easy too.  (UPDATE** I got 100% on my skills test!) So far, I've ridden it like a billion times, including one rally to Paragonah with Mike and our Bishop.  The Bishop didn't have a scooter, so he just rode his four-wheeler.  It still felt like a rally though.

Fun, fun, fun!

I love your bargaining skills! I'm glad they got the earrings in straight (was it the same place Adelyn got hers done?). The family room looks grrrrrrrreat!!! Nice couch & rug! And that scooter is sure fun- you & Mike can take road trips :)

Mike says "the scooter was for me so Alissa can ride by me."

Yes, riding two abreast is allowed, but no more than two. If you're riding in a group of more than two, you should ride in a stagger formation, with each individual being at least 1 second riding distance from the person just ahead of them, and at least 2 second riding distance from the person riding directly in front on them. I don't know why I didn't pass the first time, I practically memorized the book...

Awesome! Love that you got to splurge and Mike got what he wanted to. Do you like having the earrings? Funny how I never noticed they weren't pierced!

Oh it's been so fun catching up on your blog! At our annual sisters retreat (with my sisters in law) we talked three of my inlaws and my mother in law to all get their ears pierced. It was totally fun. How do you like it so far?

And I totally dig your negotiation skills. Can you teach me? :)
