Yes, Mike really tied a string to her tooth, and Adelyn slammed the door all herself. It took a few tries, but it eventually worked. I didn't think people did this for real. It always sounded like a threat to me.
WOW - I am impressed with how brave Adelyn is. I remember sitting for an hour or more, string tied to my tooth, and just playing with the door. I do NOT remember actually closing the door hard enough to pull the tooth, though. Good job Adelyn - I hope the Tooth Fairy visits you tonight.
